Hello from my studio
A busy season of drawing, printmaking and new ceramics
It’s been a wonderfully busy few months here, with drawing trips to Saltburn beach and the beautiful Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle — both inspiring places to sketch, gather ideas and soak up new colours and textures.
Back in the studio, I’ve been happily juggling clay, ink and ideas after a lovely weekend teaching silkscreen printing at Handprinted. Alongside new prints, I’m throwing fresh ceramic shapes for the season — it’s a messy mix, but that’s exactly how I like it.
I’ve been running my print business alongside my small pottery studio for many years, making small batches of domestic earthenware, each hand-decorated with my own oxides and stains on a soft white tin glaze. Cups remain a particular favourite, and I’ll be restocking the shelves ready for autumn and festive events.
Fresh from the kiln: a new collection of hand-thrown cups and mugs, each individually decorated with autumn leaves and berries. Every piece is made by hand, then painted with my own mix of glazes and coloured oxides, so no two are exactly the same.
SHEFFIELD PRINT FAIR
Come visit me at the Sheffield Print Fair on Saturday, October 31 at Millennium Galleries! With over 40 stalls showcasing various printmaking techniques, it’s a great outing. The fair runs from 10 am to 4:30 pm, and I’ll be demonstrating monoprinting and silkscreen techniques, so please stop by! Don’t miss the 'New Editions' print exhibition next door, featuring my print 'Tiger, Tiger'
FESTIVE OPEN STUDIOS
As the festive season approaches, I’ll be at my friend Kim Coley’s studio in Kirkby Overblow on Sunday, November 15, from 10 am to 4 pm. I’ll also host my annual event at Pilmoor on Saturday, December 5, from 10 am to 4 pm—no booking needed, just come for refreshments and festive chat!

The book introduces fresh approaches to the process, from basic hand-cut paper stencils and expressive mono-printing, through to the more complex method of photo silkscreen printing. I explain a variety of techniques, highlighting the many creative possibilities to demonstrate what can be achieved at the kitchen table with basic equipment and materials.
